I wonder what is the relationship between my love for watercolor with its infinite possibilities and the countryside near Noceto, where I was born, its fragrance of fields and orchards, the shimmering of water in muddy pools and the sun shining on summer leaves.
Nobody would have guessed, as I was studying and then working many years as a biologist, that my destiny would have involved those coloured transparencies. Surely my path is related to my homeland, the firmness of its elements, the mixture of its colors and the waters of its river: it is enough to mention that from crafting metals in the beginning I arrived to ceramics and finally to painting. And since twenty years to watercolour, that I love in its infinite possibilities: investigating colours, experimenting with different supports, new techniques leading to unusual paths of discovery.
Such as those from Sicily, new landscapes far from my native land and from Milan where I usually live. Those are landscapes where, since 2004, every summer I enjoy painting together with students in painting workshops, during which I share my knowledge and passion for watercolour with those that want to learn…
In a nutshell, watercolour is the main tool of my artistic expression.
I presented my work in solo and group exhibitions, in Italy and abroad. Some of my paintings can be found in Museums, Libraries and Foundations.
These are the results of an intense activity which brought me to become member of the Society’s Artistic Commission 2021-2022 of the Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente di Milano (Society of Fine Arts and Permanent Exhibition of Milan) and of the Associazione Italiana Acquerellisti (Italian Watercolour Association), of which I was president between 2014 and 2019.
